What I learned that day

Authors Note: In the short story Thank you, Ma’am by by Langston Hughes. A kid named Rodger runs up behind this woman along with him trying to take her purse, which ends up having a big role and a big effect on the character and the story.

What happen when this boy, Rodger tried to take this woman purse and what occur was is the strap broke with the single tug the boy gave the purse from behind. However Rodger’s weight and then the weight of the purse caused Rodger to lose his balance so Rodger fell on his back on the sidewalk. Then this woman kicks Rodgers in his butt. Furthermore she ends up taking him back to her home.

She asked may questions when they were going to her house like, why were you trying to do that. What is not normal is that this lady takes this boy, Rodger to her house. To add on Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones cleans up Rodger and ends up feeding him.  And best of all for Rodger he gets ten dollars to go get what he wants in the end.

The woman has an immense effect on Rodger, and not just by giving him ten dollars. Instead of this woman calling for the cops or calling for help or possibly even beating up this boy. But she ends up taking him to her own home. She could have done multiply things to him, but when you’re in dilemma like Rodger was, he probably got the best result out of the many things that could have happen to him. Rodger also had a choice, to try to run for it or to stay with her in the house. When Rodger was in the house he ended up staying and being respectful to this woman.  That was probably one of the best decisions of his life.

Also this was not just one of the best decisions of his life, he also learn one of the best lessons of his life. He learns from this woman that did not have to do anything for him. Which he learns that it is not right to steal and you can get a lot of trouble for stealing, It could have been anyone else that would have called the cops. But she knew that would not teach this kid a lesson the kid would keep on doing this so that’s why she took him to her house.

Overall Rodger was very lucky to have someone as nice as Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones help Rodger out. I believe that Rodger did learn a lesson from this and Mrs. Luella Bates Washington might have stopped Rodger from going to jail possibly. In the end she really did have a big effect on Rodger and his choices for the future.

Rodgers Internal conflict

One internal conflict that Rodger had with himself had a big role in the short story. When the woman was taking Rodger had many choices.  Like maybe he would have tried to hurt this woman or kick her then start running?  The biggest internal conflict that I think he had is when he was looking at the door then the sink and that was a big decision that he made. Overall Rodger  had some internal conflicts saying should I do this or that, but overall Rodger made the right choices.

Book to real life

In the book The Battle Grounds, Jonathan goes off to war like everyone else. The only difference is the he is only thirteen years old! And that plays a big role in the book and in away similar to real life back then.

As like many if not close to all men back then went off to war. Along with in the book Jonathan makes many sacrifices just like in real life. In the book Jonathan had to see multiple people get shot and killed. He also had to burry some people because he knew it was the right thing to do. Jonathan also gets captured and he is there for almost a week.  His men ended up killing the people how took him as hostage. In addition to the book he had to do all about war which most of it happen.

As well what happen in the book, which is he had to learn how to use a gun. Because back then the gun where over 8 feet tall. Jonathan also had to learn how to use the gun. He had to find out how to reload fast when you’re getting shot at. He also had to hind may times from the enemy soldiers.

In real life, many of the things that happen in the book happen in some kind of way.
And they all used the same equipment. Maybe not what the people said but they had very similar experiences. But none of them were good. In real life they all made many sacrifices. Most of the soldiers had to see many people meaning there friends and maybe family get shot and killed. And in the war I would think that some people would have gotten held hostage.

Some supplementary things that happen in real life is that many of the men have never shot a gun before. And then if you have never used one that means that they had to get used to the 8 feet gun. They also had to get used to going in a war formation.

In the end the book The Battle Grounds is very similar to the real world revolutionary war. They all had to deal with the same terrible, depressing things. Because just imagine your bother getting shot right in front of your face, how you feel? Once again the book is over very similar to real life war.

What will happen next?

In the short story of Dead man's Path you get to know a bold snotty person named Chinua Acheb.  He thinks he is a know-it-all and thinks that all of the people do not know what they are saying. And that takes a big role in the short story of Dead man's Path.

In the story Dead man's Path Chinua is taking over a small town school because he believes that he knows a lot more than everyone else there. He went to college and he believes that he will change everything for the best of things.  And when he gets to the school he does not like how the school looked. So he ends up saying he wants many things to be gone, but the towns people have always have had it like it has always been. And it turns out to be a big mess when the supervisor can saw schooling building tarred downed.

That is where the short story ended. What I believe what have happen next is Chinua would be fired or in gigantic trouble for what he did with his power of being the headmaster. My guess Is that he would get fired and many of the towns people will not like him. Overall for Chinua Achebe it will not be a good outcome.

My favorite Character Cherry

Authors Note: There are many characters in the book “The Outsiders” and to me, one really stands out from the other characters and that is Cherry. Cherry is a soc except still hangs around the greasers. Furthermore that just that makes her standout right away!

Cherry in the book “The Outsiders” is one in a million to the boys. She is such a nice, understanding person. There has never been a soc that hang out with greasers for real (Meaning not just teasing them or something.) She is very rich and they are very poor.  But she does standout because once again because no one in the socs gang would want to be around any of the greasers. Sherri is open minded, she does not care if you are rich, poor, very poor or even richer then her, she will always be open minded and be polite no matter who you are.

What I also like about her is she is not in a gang and just does not harm people and in fact she does the complete opposite. For example in the book she says “Stop! Stop it! I hate fights, alright? I hate them!” And in ways I would like to think that I am like her. Meaning that I try to be fastidious to people and help them when they need it. As a result that is another reason why I like Cherry. In the book Cherry has effect on the story because just like the quote I put down, that had an effect on the book. Because when she said that, the character would be effected knowing that she does not like fights that could maybe end into no fighting at all. As a result of no people getting injured or even getting killed.

Those are some reasons why I like I think that Cherry more than the other characters in the book the “The outsiders”. Those are the skills of a great person. That is why that Cherry is my favorite character in  "The Outsiders" even though she is not in the book that much.

The Football genius

Authors note: All that Troy really wants from his mom is an official Falcons NFL football. His Mom works for the NFL team the Falcons and that plays a big role in the story.

Troy is an elegant person but does not make some not-so-good choices in the book “Football Genius”. In the book Troy ends up stealing an Official Falcons NFL Football because close to his house a NFL star linebacker Seth Halloway. Troy ends up stealing a football from the back of his house. But Troy ends up getting caught in the end.

After being caught, lucky enough for Troy his mom brings on some field tickets. When they get there after a couple minutes of watching the game Troy could call each play that the team would use. But of course the security thought he was up to something they kick him out along with his mom by firing her. What I think what would have happen in the book is Troy and his mom would be angry because in the book it says that Troy really likes that his mom worked for the Falcons and he was in a way proud of his mom because of that.

In the end the story it probably would have not really been a happy ending.
His mom just got fired and Troy got kick out for a dumb reason. Once again adding it all up it would have not been a happy ending. And that is my prediction on what would have happen later in the story.

Should we stay or should we go?

Authors note: In some resent years NASA really has not had really any money to go up into space. But should they try to keep going up or should they stay down to earth for a while?

There are probably many opinions about NASA staying here on earth or keep going up to space. The problem with NASA is they say they have no more money (to afford to go into space). And they say that they will not be going up for a while but instead of going up into space they have these robots that are sent too many planets. And the robots or droids will have the information of data from the planets and pictures. After the robots come back, we will know more and have more pictures of that planet.

The down side to not going up to space is not exploring with humans meaning that they might see something that the robot would have not seem. But then again same thing goes with the robot. But the chances are the robot will have more problems out in space then a human. And you can’t fix a robot when it’s at Mars. So that would be a waste of money and time if something like that were to happen.

Overall it is very important that we keep an eye on space because you never know what’s going to happen in space. That is why I believe you need to get NASA going on other projects. Even that NASA does not have a lot of money to use for going up to space in the end we all have to keep an eye on space.
