Letter to Jonas

Dear Jonas,

I hope that you have learned a lot from me. Jonas, for how long that I have done my job being the Receiver of memory it’s a not an easy job. Why I’m writing this letter to you is because when I first started this job it was not simple for me, just like it’s not easy for you. In addition to I will tell you maybe what you could do to make things get easier.

First of all, just like you I had troubles learning about fear, pain and loneliness. When my teacher was teaching me, he gave me some of the same memories that I gave you. (One of them was the memory of going down a snowy hill with a sled.) Like I have taught you, my teacher also gave me many dreadful memories and it was tuff to get through it. What would help me is I would have him give me a good memory before I would go home because then I would not be in a crabby mood. I’ll also do that for you if you want that.

Second of all, it was very hard for me to just start lying to my family. It was also hard keeping up with my friends because I would go to my teacher most days and I would not be able to see my friends and Family as much just like you. Jonas to be straight honest with you, there’s not a whole lot you can do about lying to your friends and family. You just got to go with the flow with this job. It is too bad that is a rule for the job but you have to do what you have to do.

Third of all, dealing with not telling anyone about what I’m telling you. When I was your age I did think that my teacher was telling me was crazy. But I did not want to tell anyone because I did have a good relationship with my parents so I really had know one to tell since I also did not really have a friends. But in your case Jonas you know that you can ask me anything you want and I’ll do my job to try to help you as much as I can.

Sincerely,

The Giver

  1. This is a great post. It contains a lot of information but not too much that you easily notice. I hope to see more posts like this in the future.
